“So, where’ve you been?” they say. “Here and there…” Jose tells them.
This summer, at least so far, it’s been a nice mix of business and pleasure, ahead of an intense Autumn Tour throughout Great Britain, with the incomparable Jools Holland. It’ll be thirty-five (35!) performances beginning in the middle of October, winding up two days before Christmas, including theaters, arenas and even two nights at the Royal Albert Hall! So to grab as much downtime as possible, and squeeze it into the calendar, is a good thing all around.
In July, the Feliciano Team headed to the Tokyo Blue Note for several days, then Jose and Jonnie flew back home to Connecticut for a little R&R before returning to the Austria Home Base to get back to Helmuth where they could finish another recording or two and attend several media events. Then it was on to a to Cyprus for a dynamite concert with The Band and then back to Austria again for more studio time, more media, a beautiful, sold-out outdoor concert outside of Vienna and then some down time for a bit of some more serious relaxation.
On August 2nd, the 46-year Anniversary that marks the day that Jose met Susan and the 35th year of their marriage was spent together, also at home in Austria, before returning to Connecticut to spend the rest of August there at home in the States.
The annual Church Clambake at Compo Beach in Westport; a special celebratory “Mass an’a Meal” with Bishop Frank Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport; and a Yankees/Mets “subway series” face-off where Jose opened the game with his iconic rendition of the “National Anthem” brought up the heat quite a bit. Add to it a couple of impromptu jams in the Hamptons: one at a happening outdoor eatery way out on Montauk and another one with members of the “Red Hot Chili Peppers!,” and the temperature really began to soar!
That, with a little beach-time, some work, and a little more play, it’s all brought the simmer to Jose’s Summer in 2017. What, with so much on tap in preparation of Feliciano’s Golden Anniversary on the International Music Scene 2018
It’s fitting that Jose’s stolen away for a little fun in the sun!
