Jose Feliciano Headlines

Jun.23.18 – Smithsonian Institution Recognizes Feliciano’s ‘Contribution to the People of America’

The Following article is published on the official website for the Smithsonian Institution. It highlights the June 14th, 2018 event in Flag Hall, the entrance to the Star-Spangled Banner Gallery, and the centerpiece of Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Here Jose Feliciano donated a collection of personal items to the museum, including his iconic Candelas acoustic guitar which he played on the day he unintentionally became the first artist to ever stylize the “Star-Spangled Banner,” causing a national uproar, 50 years ago, in 1968.

We thank music curator, John Troutman, and all involved, for their ‘grace & generosity.’
