The Candelas Guitar which with Jose Feliciano recorded his iconic “Light my Fire” and rendered his now-famous interpretation of the “Star-Spangled Banner” 50 years ago this year are among objects being donated to the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of American History during their prestigious Naturalization Ceremony.

Jose will visit our nation’s capitol to celebrate his Golden Anniversary with an appearance and donation to the Smithsonian.  The Naturalization and Donation Ceremony will be held in Flag Hall, where the actual flag that flew over Ft. McHenry, inspiring Francis Scott Key to pen his poem that would eventually become our National  Anthem is on display. Jose will be the keynote speaker and will play this beloved guitar one last time as he renders the Anthem in the very presence of the original ‘star-spangled banner.’
